A Brief History Of Trinity
Trinity’s history began when John Reister deeded ¼ acre of land in 1764 for a cemetery, school and small log church to be used by all denominations.
With only 40 Lutheran pastors in the U.S. at the time, the congregation had only occasional services in the sparsely settled town of Reisterstown. In 1854, the log church was torn down and a brick wall was built around the cemetery.Worship services continued in private homes. Trinity was officially accepted as a congregation in the MD synod on August 10, 1855.
In 1856, a two story church was built and dedicated “To The Triune God”. This original church was replaced by our present Sanctuary and dedicated in 1907.
In 1955, the parsonage was renovated to serve as a Parish House and the southern-most brick dwelling purchased and modernized as a parsonage.
The education building was dedicated on November 24, 1968. It is used for Sunday School, Bible Studies, Community Groups and Small Wonders Day Care Center.
In 2002, Trinity greatly expanded our facilities with the Trinity Life Center, a large fellowship hall addition to the Education Building.
